GATHERING

Abbey Way meets on Sunday mornings at Elim Church in Northeast Minneapolis in the Little Chapel.

If you enter the building by the main doors, you can find us up the stairs, down the long hall and on your right.

If you come in through the back parking lot door, we are up the stairs and straight down the hall on the left.

Come in the Little Chapel through the open Lounge door.

(The big sanctuary is where Elim meets for worship.)

We begin gathering at 10:15 am with reflection with worship at 10:30 am.

On the first Sunday of each month, a shared meal follows.

Interested in knowing what is happening on Sunday? Here’s our upcoming schedule.

If you have a question, use the contact page to send us a quick email. We would be happy to respond.

This fall we will focus our study on the lectionary texts from the Old Testament.

Story

Unless the Lord builds the house the laborers labor in vain.

Psalm 127:1

Story

Unless the Lord builds the house the laborers labor in vain.

Psalm 127:1

Eternal and Immortal One,

You are our dwelling place.

From before mountains were born,

From before earth even came to exist,

You have longed for a people to draw near:

to live with You.

May we count ourselves as ones who know our belonging

in Your house.

Amen.

Chosen

...those who wait for the LORD
            Will gain new strength;
            They will mount up with wings like eagles,
            They will run and not get tired,
            They will walk and not become weary.

            They will walk and not become weary.

We cannot love God unless we love each other, and to love each other we must know each other. We know him in the breaking of bread, and we know each other in the breaking of bread, and we are not alone any more. Heaven is a banquet and life is a banquet, too, even with a crust, where there is companionship. We have all known the long loneliness and we have learned that the only solution is love and that love comes with community.

Prayer for the Day

Lord God,

almighty and everlasting Father,

you have brought us in safety to this new day:

Preserve us with your mighty power,

that we may not fall into sin,

nor be overcome by adversity;

and in all we do direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.†
